Something I noticed when my Dad and I began building our houses was that there were no ideas out there for people who wanted a small
retirement home, or for people who wanted a dog kennel built into their home. I also noticed that in all of the pre-planned designs I found
on the Internet, there was always something that would not work for real people. There was some weird angle, a huge waste of space,
things turned the wrong way, walls where they shouldn't be or no wall where one was needed, tiny master bedrooms, or some other weird
thing that proved to me that the people who planned them did not really think about how people would move through their designs.
In addition to those issues, I also noticed that the designers paid no attention to the fact that the convoluted roofs that they were drawing
onto homes were either not realistic or WAY too expensive. I didn't know how much more expensive until we built - geez! In a directing
course I took in college, we had to think about these things when planning for the stage layout, and I taught the same thing when I taught
Drama, so with these things in mind, I started playing with house designs - small ones and big ones, creating simple, workable plans for
people who wanted small homes that would be easy to clean and care for, as well as people who wanted kennels built into their designs.
No, none of these are available in blueprint form because they are just the results of my playing around with ideas. I am NOT selling them,
but you are more than welcome to take my changes and play with them yourself if you want! Have fun! And if you use one to build a house,
remember, get your architect to design the MOST SIMPLE ROOF possible and save yourself tons of cash!
