CHILDHOOD

I remember
     Taking hold of the BAT
and
s w I n g I n g   as HARD as I could,
Hitting the BALL with
B o N e   Sh Att eR InG   FORCE.
R u n n i n g  to FIRST base,
R u n n i n g  to SECOND base,
R u n n i n g  to THIRD base,
Rounding  to HOME!
s-s-s-s-l-l-l-l-i-i-i-i-d-d-d-d-i-i-i-i-n-n-n-n-g-g-g-g
S-A-F-E-!-!-!

I remember
     Eating the feast on Thanksgiving:
TURKEY
Mashed Potatoes
ROLLS
And my favorite . . .
P-I-E-!-!-!
All stuffed –
Ready for
S-E-C-O-N-D-S!

I remember
Singing at the Smokey Mountains’ choir concert
days of
Practice for
HOURS on end
and
TODAY is the day of the show!
As the curtains R—I—S—E
I see    t-h-o-u-s-a-n-d-s   of people.
We sing like ANGELS . . .
E-N-C-O-R-E!!!
FALL

The cooooool w—i—n—d BLOWING across my face
Feels like a d-i-p in the pooooool.
The chameleon
leaves c-h-a-n-g-i-n-g COLOR,
As a
slight chiiiil sets innnnnnn.

SUMMER

The W-A-R-M sun, like a flaming GIANT!
The butterflies
f-l-u-t-t-e-r-i-n-g ABOVE the tuLIPS,
Sucking up their s-w-e-e-e-e-e-t nectar.

SENSES

Spring . . .
Smells green like Clover,
Tastes sweet like Honey Dew,
Sounds happy like Children Playing,
Looks dazzling like Leprechaun’s Gold, and
Feels warm like a Sunflower.
